About Bishweshwar Shome
Senior Software Engineer based in Bengaluru, India. Builder of resilient distributed backends, high-throughput microservices, and AI-driven automation workflows.
Engineering Philosophy
I approach software engineering from first principles: reliability, operational simplicity, and low-level mechanical sympathy. Whether tuning Linux socket buffers, designing atomic Redis Lua scripts to eliminate race conditions, or enforcing zero-allocation hot paths in Go, I believe scalable software begins with clear boundaries and respect for the underlying machine.
Over 6+ years in software engineering, I have designed and maintained core systems across Cloud VPC networking overlays, scientific simulation engines, and AI testing pipelines. I take pride in removing friction for engineering teams — whether by shaving 56% off container footprints, accelerating service startup times by 50%, or architecting AI agents that eliminate merge request test regressions.
The Journey
My academic foundations in Computer Science began at Visva-Bharati University, where I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science. During my Master's studies, I concentrated on Quantum Computing, Distributed Systems, and Cryptography, culminating in research on Quantum Genetic Algorithms (QGA) for discrete optimization.
Professionally, my journey spans:
- F5 Networks (SDE III): Pioneered LLM-powered test automation agents and MR diff coverage pipelines, increasing test coverage to 90%+ across multiple repositories, and delivered critical cross-repo validation features.
- IBM Cloud VPC Overlay: Engineered load balancer VPC routing, Virtual Private Endpoint (VPE) access, and high-concurrency Go networking microservices.
- HCL Technologies: Developed scalable REST APIs with Go and the Goa framework, gRPC inter-service communication, and Terraform infrastructure.
- Prescience Insilico: Spearheaded performance optimizations for materials simulation and drug discovery software, slashing Docker image sizes and optimizing data connectors.
Current Research & Learning
Technology moves forward through deliberate experimentation. Currently, I am actively exploring:
- Rust: Leveraging affine type systems and fearless concurrency for systems programming and WebAssembly.
- Quantum Computing: Simulating quantum gate circuits, superposition probability mechanics, and quantum-inspired combinatorial optimization.
- Autonomous AI Workflows: Designing context-aware code generation loops that integrate compiler feedback, static analysis, and AST diffs.
Beyond the Terminal
When not reading RFCs, profiling goroutines, or writing Go code, you will find me:
- ♟️ Playing Chess (tactics, positional play, and opening theory).
- 🥾 Trekking & Traveling across mountain trails and natural landscapes.
- 📷 Photography capturing street and wilderness moments.
- ✍️ Technical Writing (Medium).
